Russian Toys, Religious Icons, and Handcrafted Items on Display

Be sure to stop by the Library during the month of March to see a hand carved troika, five sets of matryoshka (nesting dolls), and a handmade balalaika (triangular lute). The Library lobby and flat display cases are currently showcasing Dr. Taylor Stults's fascinating collection of Russian toys, religious icons, and handcrafted pieces. Dr. Stults, retired Professor of History, collected these wonderful pieces while leading student trips to Russia during the 1970s and 1980s. Dr. Stults taught courses on Russian history and contemporary Russian life as well as European and world history during his tenure at Muskingum. Dr. Stults joined the Muskingum faculty in 1962 and retired in 2001.
