Author Talk this Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

Our second author talk will be held this Thursday, October 18 at 3:30 p.m. in the Library. Please join us to learn more about the writing and publishing experiences of Associate Professor of English Dr. Richard Williamson and Professor of English Dr. Donna Edsall.

Dr. Williamson is the author of The Impact of Franklin Pierce on Nathaniel Hawthorne: Friendship, Politics, and the Literary Imagination, which explores the friendship between the U.S. President Franklin Pierce and author Nathaniel Hawthorne and the ways in which this relationship influenced several of Hawthorne's writings. The book traces the friendship from their years at Bowdoin College in the 1820s to Hawthorne’s death in 1864. The book also provides a study of the influence of Hawthorne’s political views on some of his works.

Dr. Edsall is the author of the play Making Sausage, which follows Murray and Ollie as they help a television executive envision the action of a prime-time television show that would depict the classic story of “Le Cid.” The play is set in present day with periodic time shifts to the 17th century.

This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be available.
